about

Bittersweet and compelling, sentimental and smart, the Valley Advocate hails Carolyn Walker as having a “skilled, songwriting mind consciously crafting complex melodies and harmonies.” Her second solo album, “Incarnadine,” was recorded by Mark Thayer at Signature Sounds studio in the spring and summer of 2014. The album features Boston-area songwriter Mark Erelli, and is supported by the talents of Pioneer Valley favorites Paul Kochanski and Lorne Entress. The word “incarnadine” means “becoming red,” invoking images of the carnal or physical world, and its passions, transformations, and desires. Walker, who belongs to the Pioneer Valley’s Woman Songwriter Collective, also fronts the band Taking Back Eden. Since her debut album “Resolution” in February of 2013, Walker has been performing throughout the Northeast as a solo artist and with her two other groups in venues such as the famed Club Passim in Cambridge Mass., the Iron Horse Music Hall in her native Northampton, the Dream Away Lodge in the Berkshires, and Caffe Vivaldi in New York City. Walker is celebrating the release of her new album in January 2015, and says, “For me, Incarnadine means turning from that green and inexperienced songwriter who you felt you were into owning your own power. This is who I am; this is how I write. It is finding my voice.”
